sounds like you installed a demo plug in and it can't authorize. If you click cancel maybe it'll prompt you for a response to a challenge question and if you click on demo it should let you get by. PT's used to use authorization floppy disks in version 4 and even on that version started tying in authorization with the hardware. I don't know, it sounds wierd. maybe you have an older 4.0 version and it is not detecting the hardware. if that's the case then just reinstall the software. either way reinstall the software. also... you need the MBOX connected to the laptop in order to start Pro Tools.

Make sure you have the following extensions enabled:

InterLok Engine
USB Floppy Enable
USB iLok Driver

It is probably the InterLok Engine that is causing your problems, if I was to guess. These should have been installed with Protools.

Actually Protools will start up without the MBox connected. It just wont let you do anything.

I'm experiencing a similar problem. I just upgrade to 5.1 from 5.0.1 and whenever I launch PTLe it ask for D-Verb authorization disk. I still have my original D-verb authorization disk; however, my system doesn't have a floppy drive. How do I get around this?
