Default Internet optional?

Hey everyone...I'm at the end of flexibility with regard to my PC's available PCI slots...I really like the UAD stuff but I only have one UAD-1 card and want to add another because of the affordability currently available...I have another PC to handle internet functions...my question is: should I get rid of the PCI modem card and put in another UAD-1 or should I just get with the program and get a more flexible PC? My current audio computer is just a P_IV at 2.8 with 2 gig RAM etc. but is stable as hell at 32 tracks with just a few plugs...I know this open ended question begs for more info but I don't know how to post the Sandra report or my complete setup....thanks in advance

Well this really depends alot on what you can afford. As you have two computers then yes you could do away with the modem card you could always get a USB external if you really had to go online. I run my PC with no internet access - I don't want it to be anywhere near it :)
I too have a UAD-1 card in. If you have a lot invested in the card (plugins) then get another they are going cheapish at the moment as the UAD-2 is the new kid on the block. The only thing that I worry about with mine is the latency being a bit high. I mainly use it for the Plate 140 verb. With the new PT8 plugins and the new reverb maybe I might be using that more?? Rather than get multiple UAD cards, I went with the Q6600 quad with 4 gigs and I can run just about anything with no problems.

Are people really still using modems? How can you stand the wait? Is it even cost effective anymore?

Not when that's all a paying client will accept.
