Default xxxxx unreadable by Pro tools

I've searched the DUC for the answer, but can't seem to find one.....sorry if this is a redundant question:

I have a client that posted SD2 files to an Apple iDisk.

When I download them and try to import audio to my session, I get the xyz is unreadable by ProTools

When one of my production partners loads the same file from the iDisk to his MOTU DP system, he has no problem

I cant even launch them in Quicktime player

Any ideas?

I'm on Mac OS 10.4.8 PTHD 7.3 running on a G4 dual 1Ghz

the resource fork has been striped somewhere along the way.
he ether needs to put a zip shell around the SD2's or better yet use BWF

Thank you for your response.

How do I explain other people being able to use the files upon download? Is it something specifically that my system is doing to the file?

I always use BWF. These tracks are coming in from a client who used SD2. They will be imported and converted to BWF which is what my sessions always run in.

Hey Jim

If they don't have the .sd2 suffix to the file name, try adding it manuall.. then try to re-import them into PT. For some reason, .sd2 files don't travel well on the 'net. The idea of stuffing/zipping them on the sending end is a good one, since un stufing/un zipping on your end will alwayw work..

Good Luck
