Re: Pro Tools 2022.9 "Saving ARA Data"
I would reinstall Protools at that point. Looks like something is corrupted unless this is the only project where this occurs. If so I would save a copy of the project under a new name then use the new version and start looking at various plugins i.e. delete then reinstall them as one may have corrupted the project or maybe a clip didn't get saved correctly.
That's all I got. Good Luck. |

I think I have discovered one thing that is helping to keep this from happening in the first place. Every time before I put Melodyne on a clip, I render the clip (command-shift-3) so that Melodyne only imports that small segment. If you don't do that, then Melodyne will be imported for the length of the original size of the clip even though you may not choose to ever edit any of the rest of the clip. So, if you have a comped track pulling from lots of playlists, when you make Melodyne active on that track, it will import Melodyne for the full length of the original clip for every clip you use in that comped track. That is a ton of Melodyne data and it seems that once Melodyne reaches a certain threshold, it starts doing this "Saving ARA Data" thing. It is definitely smart to consolidate the comped clips before you instantiate Melodyne on it. I am also constantly rendering the clips when I am done and turning Melodyne off as much as possible after my edits. These are not ideal ways of working with Melodyne in Pro Tools, but they have been somewhat working as a workaround for me for now until there is a fix.

Re: Pro Tools 2022.9 "Saving ARA Data"
Avid responded to my case that I opened about this issue:
"A fix is coming for it but I don't have any specific time frame for the following Pro Tools delivery, however we can keep an eye to this page for next releases: https://avid.secure.force.com/pkb/ar...-Documentation on the Release Notes specifically is where can check the bug fixes" |

Re: Pro Tools 2022.9 "Saving ARA Data"
I haven't tested it yet, but according to the Release Notes for the out-today (Oct 25) PT 2022.10...

Re: Pro Tools 2022.9 "Saving ARA Data"
Release Info says:
"Reduced the frequency of the 'Saving ARA Data' progress bar (PT-289968)" This sounds not really good to me. I hoped this will gone and not reduced. Does this mean that saving ARA data has to interrupt the workflow? That's why I don't update PT. I had a similar issue with Studio One that forced me to stop working with the S1. |

Re: Pro Tools 2022.9 "Saving ARA Data"
So has 2022.10 sorted out everyone's problems on this? Because I'm still getting slow saves here.

Re: Pro Tools 2022.9 "Saving ARA Data"
Im not sure. It definitely is less frequent. But I have moments where the computer really locks up which I am assuming is coming from this. It doesn’t say “saving ARA” though when it happens.

Re: Pro Tools 2022.9 "Saving ARA Data"
The ARA saving is definitely reduced. If you’re on a Mac I suggest a co-install of 22.9 and 22.10 if you’re worried about the latter working for you. Easy enough to jump back and forth to compare versions with the same session.

Re: Pro Tools 2022.9 "Saving ARA Data"
On 2022.10, Win 10 pro 21H2. Comped the vocal to another track using"Quick Punch", consolidated the new track, tuned with Melodyne and rendered. Easy, peasy!
