Is there, or will there be an upgrade from Pro Tools 8 LE to Pro Tools 12? or what would be the best way for me to get to 12?

We have added a few more answers to the FAQ, and updated the specific posts in this thread to reflect that (others are in progress).

Some are more Pro Tools 12 specific so will be moved from the Licensing FAQ to a Pro Tools 12 FAQ when that is created.

Reminder: Please review the first post for guidelines before posting in this thread.

Thanks,
JC

The FAQ update doesn't state whether updates are only for PT11 or PT12 or both.

There is no terminology stating "for any supported version" in the FAQ.

So I wonder if the "free updates" only applies to Pt11.

Please clarify

Regarding hardware ownership, Artist and S series, as well as older legacy, D-command etc. I've read they will also be subject to a service contract (support plan). Since Eucon is so tightly integrated with those surfaces what will the service plan cover regarding Eucon updates, upgrades, firmware, and how will it envelop the ownership of multiple surfaces? Will we have to pay for each, additional for each, or will the contract umbrella all surfaces?

Will Freeze - Freeze my outboard hardware?

We need to use our own secure severs?
As many clients do not allow our projects to saved on servers outside of our facilities control due to sensitive nature of some of our projects.

Will we get Channel strip settings and save and recall - BTW this has been on Ideascale since 2009

Can Avid please explain the reasoning behind the $599 per year cost to HD owners?

It seems to me that it would be much more simple to have all software upgrades be the same price regardless of HD or Non-HD. It is the same software. HD owners have already paid a premium to own the Avid hardware and cards required. Why ding them harder to stay current? Not all HD owners require the flagship service.

Any insight to the thinking behind this decision would be helpful.

Thanks,

Scott

On November 18, 2012 I purchased a student version of ProTools10 that came with 3 years of complimentary upgrades when new versions of the software was released. I'm contacting you to find out when I can expect to receive my pro tools 12 upgrade?

Are you guys still honoring this?

Yes, how do you justify charging HD owners more?
