Will I have problems?
Hey there,
Im just finishing up a mix of the music for an upcoming film on our PT system on PC (were running 7.3.1 cs4). Im going to be taking the sessions into a different studio for a couple of days to check the mixes and make minor adjustments. Now, that studio is running Macs and using PT 7.1. Firstly, will my 7.3 sessions be compatable with this earlier version (i understand that i may lose some particular features). Also are there any issues i need to know about crossing platforms? Once ive finished there i will be handing on to the guys at dubbing who have requested PT sessions with stems. However, theyre running PCs and i believe 7.3 also. They said that they had had some problems in the past when getting sessions from clients who were using using macs, but i believe this may be related to using aiff files instead of b.wav. (and whos knows what versions they were running). What do i need to keep in mind going backwards and forwards like this? Worst comes to worst - the sessions dont work but they have the stems and can import, but i could save myself a lot of time if i knew that i could just copy the session folders from our studio and they will work correctly in 7.1 on this studio's mac system, and from there, that they will work correctly again when opened up in the dubbing studio, which has PCs running 7.3. Any ideas? Thanks James

Re: Will I have problems?
Hi Atardecer,
You should have no problems moving PT 7.3 sessions between OSX and XP. I do this daily with no problems. The only thing you can't move between osx and xp are SDII files. I have had problems moving 7.4 or 7.4 sessions to 7.1 PT rig. This should work but I have gotten errors. Best, Brandon

Re: Will I have problems?
Great, thanks Brandon!
Yeah, i generally stay away from SDII files wherever possible. The session will be quite simple containing only the stems and volume automation (no tempo changes etc) as i'll have bounced everything down previously. So no major problems i hope! James
