Default Archive systems

I work for a large church and we do AV capture of not only all services, but classes and special events. We do 48 track capture and have been using all hard drives for original and backup. Well all these hard drives are getting pretty crazy, so I wondered what others are using for archiving old sessions. LTO, SAN or NAS system, optical? Be nice if it would work well for audio and video but if good audio archive that would be fine.

Also are you using any DAM or asset track software?

Thanks.

LTO is a very robust storage media, but it can be finnicky sometimes. Make sure both your computer and LTO deck are venilated well and are on different power sources (or even different breakers/wall outlets). I have experienced an LTO crash soon after spin-up when it overdrew some power from the attached computer.

Also, sort of a note to all after doing tests, Retrospect DOES NOT handle files which have been destructive punched. They WILL crash an LTO backup, possibly resulting even in header and sync errors on the snapshot. Has something to do with the query system not understanding what difference there is between two files in a backup update since destructive punch only alters the bit information inside of an already-existing file.
