Default OT - DUCaholism

HI. My name is Shawn, and I'm a DUC-a-holic.

<all respond>Hi Shawn.

I've been a ProTools user and a DUC member for about 9 months now. I spend my free time at my day job refreshing the LE for Windows DUC forum, waiting for the latest words of wisdom, gleaning product reveiws, listening to distinctive guitar tones, and watching for some minor tweak that I may have missed.

I'm completely addicted! One of the first things I do in the morning when I get to work is read all of the posts I have missed while I was sleeping. From the most informative post, to the hundredth redundant "how do I.." post, I read them all (except maybe the spanish ones, but I'm rooting for you guys to get that web translation thing straightened out). I'm useless for at least an hour or two after a weekend without the DUC!

I don't really mind being addicted. I'm thankful to the people here who have helped me, knowingly or unknowingly. I'm even thankful sometimes for those redundant "how do I..." posts because it allows me to increase my post count and come up with ever more creative ways to say "R.T.F.M." politely. I still haven't read the whole thing, but it is the FIRST place I look if I need to know something. (I guess that's why they call it a "Reference Guide", huh?)
I'm still a PT newbie myself, but I learn more and more each day, and searching for answers for other people helps me learn also, so when I do actually get some time to do some PT work (seems rare nowadays), I'm more prepared, and ready for any curve balls that come my way.

I just wanted to come up with a funny way to say thanks for my 100th post, and hopefully lighten up everyone's day a bit.

Some ways to tell if you might be a DUCkie:
1. You know, and unmistakably beleive, that Rail is God.
2. You were happy to see that they made the best laptops thread a sticky.
3. Your productivity at work is suffering because you're downloading and listening to all the mp3s from the latest stuff thread.
4. You're still wondering what the hell has happened to MrSeven and that guitar solo contest.
5. You've spent more than an hour working on your signature.
6. You know exactly how many posts you have.
7. You've got to sit through some idiots semi-humorous (or maybe not) 100th post about forum addiction to find anything half interesting or informative.

Feel free to list your own DUC-a-hol-isms...
Or not.

I'm not addicted. I can stop any time I want. I can tell I'm not addicted because I only read threads that are important and have relevant PTLE information in them.

Amen, especially to number 1...

And if I was really a DUC-aholic, I'd have way more posts than Cliff

Cheers,

I was trying to wait until tomorrow to read these replies, but I didn't make it.

I guess I have to turn in my 4 hour chip, huh?

I pledge allegiance to the webpage of the Digidesign Users Conference.
And to ProTools, and 6.1.1, all the users, under Rail,
with hi sample rates and bouncing to disc for all!
