Default Vocal Delay when using DeBreath Plugins

ProTools 2018.12.0 - On a bare-bones session with only a mono vocal and stereo piano, with no plugins or master bus or sends: when I instantiate Waves DeBreath or iZotope RX7 Breath Control, suddenly the vocal lags behind the piano by a half-second. If I disable the plugin, it still lags. If I remove it from the insert, the timing is fine.

I turned ADC on and off to no avail. The session doesn't stall for CPU resources. This was part of a big session and when the delay showed up I created this bare-bones session to troubleshoot. Plenty of power: iMac 3.2GHz i5, 32GB RAM though still running OSX 10.11.6.

Thanks all!

Eric

Check the delay compensation section in the manual, but specifically 'Delay that exceeds the compensation limit'. Those type of plugs use large look ahead buffers.

That's correct. The only way that type of plugin can work well is to look ahead that far. It's kind of possible to use them in real-ish time as long as you don't monitor any other track until the effect has been applied/bounced/committed.

Can you comment on this though?

1. Never had this issue until now in spite of look ahead -- For the past several years I've never had this issue even in fully plugin-loaded, heavy multitrack sessions. Sometimes the session will pause on DeBreath and run out of CPU--that is all. Then I just reset the buffer and move on. I'm talking PT9, 10, 11, 12 and 2018 through 2018.10 up until 2018.12.0.

2. Could this be a bug in 2018.12.0?

Just trying to wrap my head around why this is suddenly as issue?

Thanks again!

What have you done so far to troubleshoot this? Have you thrashed prefs etc?

Any plug updates recently? Could be buffering differences.

Could be but it’s hard to tell, everyone is running different versions of the same stuff.

I still run waves 9.2 and debreath is the worst plug in history.....horrible ADC numbers

Who knows what the OP is running, he didn’t volunteer that info...

Thanks for more help.

1. Trashing Prefs, Disk Utility First Aid, and Reboot didn't help

2. Waves Mercury 10.0.0

3. Same exact results with iZotope RX7 Advanced Breath Control so hard to blame it all on Waves though I know DeBreath is a cow.

4. 34s audio clip - 1st 17 seconds without plugin, 2nd 17s with either plugin, DeBreath or Breath Control Dropbox Link

Thanks all!

This started from 2018.12.
This goes and comes on intermittently.
New Latency bug
No Beta testing for free.
If it persist I go back to 2018.10.....cause I like to work on music not on fixing software bugs.
