Default 003R as slave via MTC?

I am trying to transfer tracks from my old Roland 1604 > PT10 via 003R. I know the Roland can be the Master and deliver Midi Time Code but wonder if/ how I set up the 003R to be the slave.

Maybe this?

(It's been a long time, but I once slaved a Roland 1680 to 2" tape. Forgot how exactly...)

yes, the 1680 can be a very cooperative and capable machine. I found the data disc I'd saved the song to, and it booted up just like old times. My problem is I have more than 8 tracks on the song, so one pass for tracks 1-8 would be fine to transfer everything...but I need 9-16 as well, which means they won't be in sync unless i do something. I cannot see how the 003R can be switched to MTC and be the slave...but your link is a Great place to start, if I can find that page. Thanks!!

In the peripherals menu, the VS doesn't show up - as master or slave - depending on midi cable. It clearly has the drop down for 'MTC Reader' but it ain't reading. I may just try analogue transfer and see if I can line it up to my satisfaction.

wow. it worked. Helps to read everything...Thank You. Now to figure out if I want to transfer each track by re-routing each one separately via digital outs (spdif) or analog 1-8/ 9-16. Anyway, I've got a few years worth of material - sandwiched between ADAT and Pro Tools...

If you decide to use Roland analog outs, reduce the analog output level of the the Roland (somewhere in the main or perhaps utility page as I recall) by 3db. The Roland analog outputs distort VERY slightly ... if not reduced by 3db.
