From the Pro Tools 7.4.2pr download page:
Quote:
Download & Authorization
Pro Tools 7.4.2pr is a free download for all Pro Tools 7.4 owners. The downloads are full installers that do not require previous installation of Pro Tools software. Optional plug-ins and software may require separate download and installation.

You will need your Pro Tools HD 7.4 iLok license, Pro Tools LE 7.4 authorization code, or Pro Tools M-Powered 7.4 iLok license to authorize Pro Tools 7.4.2pr. If you do not own Pro Tools 7.4, see Compatibility & Upgrades.

You will need to upgrade to 7.4 to download the pre release

How did you buy 7.1? Was it old stock from a dealer or something?

If you bought it used and transfered ownership, then yes... You'll need to buy the upgrade. I think it's $75 if you have earlier versions of Pro Tools 7, and $49 if you have 7.3.

Click on "Compatibility & Upgrades" at the top of the DUC (the same page linked from the 7.4.2pr download page quoted earlier in this thread).

And then on Pro Tools M-Powered for Mac OS X Compatibility & Upgrade Information
Which says...
"For Pro Tools Upgrade & Update Information, see the lower part of the page below."
