Default Help! Installed protools - crashes when launched

I recently bought the old mbox for my desktop and it came with pro tools 6.7. I've installed the software and updated the firmware for the mbox but I can't seem to launch pro tools. Everytime I click on the pro tools icon my computer crashes and reboots by itself. Then Windows would tell me it just recovered from an error. I've reinstalled protools 3 times and i keep getting stuck with the same problem. I appreciate any info you can give me.

Hi, have you looked at your virtual memory settings? I had a similar problem with PTLE 7.0 - ProTools was hanging when you launched it - you could see it taking up 99% CPU in task manager. Funny thing was a second instance would start OK (then I could kill the original in Task Manager). I also found if I launched Quick Time player before ProTools, ProTools would also start fine...

I then played with my Virtual Memory settings (as described here) and it seems to have sorted it.

Good luck.
