Default Journaled drives now recommended? since 6.9
Hi,,
Reading through the 6.9 read me? it now says that Journaling is now recommended for Digidesign users!!

Are we going to go for it? and now turn Journaling on for all our drives!?

yes - disk performance on OSX 10.3.8 is superior with Journaling enabled.

I was always a little hesitant to turn it off in the first place. Enabled, I know there's a few extra operations for every disk write, but if you've ever had a serious crash with it off, your drive can get pretty bad.

I once got the black multi-language crash during a repair permissions - it sincerely *****ed up the whole computer.

People have been asking me if they should turn it on for versions previous to 6.9 - I say yes. Feel free to correct if I'm wrong.

Mike,

Are you referring to all drives, or just the one with the Pro Tools software installed?

What about the "Audio Files" drives, should those be set to Journaled as well?

Mike I was interested in your statement that disk performance improves . . . especially since Digi is recommending it . . . however everything I have read says otherwise.
