Default while bouncing I ran out of CPU

I was bouncing a project of maybe 52 voices to 8 subs and it got almost to the end and stopped giving me a running out of CPU error. I have HD3 Accel to a G5 D-2.0 1 gig ram - The session was not plug-in heavy a few EQ's and a few REV-Ones...No Rtas plugs- nothing big. I was running the playback ay 512 samples. When I set it 1024 it was no problem. Is there an issue that any of you know about wih a large session having trouble with the bounce? My rig is fairly new and this is the first rel issue I've run into so far.... My new rig is the HD 3 accel to 2 192's and then a control 24 and a sync i/o. Thanks for any input
