Unhappy Spinning Beach Ball.... Help

All of a sudden I get the spinning beach ball and it takes 4 minutes to paste an event now. What can I do? It takes about 30 minutes for the song to load. Slow, slow, slow. Bit frustrated.

My session has about 15 audio tracks 4 midi tracks.

Hi Stevie,

You certainly have enough ram, so my first thought would be your hard drive. Are you using your system drive to record on to? If so, BIG NO! LOL! You always want to record to a seperate external drive. I use the Lacie d2 firewire and it works great!

Hope this helps

Thank you Nash, Yes I am using the hard drive. This is my first recording on Pro Tools and I have planned to get a firewire drive. I will get the one you suggested this week.

I am very down about this. The error message I am getting is

"CAN NOT OPEN REASON ENGINE"
"PLEASE RE-INSTALL TO MAKE SURE THAT THE REASON ENGINE IS PROPERLY INSTALLED".

I have re-installed it but I still have this spinning ball Tomorrow I will get the external drive and pray it helps. Spirit very low. Thanks for your reply.

Which version of PT are you running? Which OS?
With an older computer like yours, I'm wondering if you might have an incompatibility going on...
(Lots of RAM notwithstanding)
