Shawn, on the Roland US website, after you have Registered your product, a link to Patch Script Builder appeared ummm... anyway, over the last couple of days, I've been stuffing around with Windows Notepad and opened a .midnam file with it, what this has done is change ALL .midnam icon's into Notepad icon's, how would one, go about changing these back?

Shawn, I have another little problem, following on...

Pro Tools communicates with my RS 9 and actively changes Patchs via Patch Selector, but will not communicate with the XT following the same proceducer.

This is the error message

"An unknown error occurred while attempting to parse this Instrument's Patch Name document"

(Both .middev and .midnam are in their rightful folders, for both instrument's)

What do you think, something to do with the XT, not Pro Tools?

It won't really hurt anything to have it associated to notepad. There isn't really a reason to double click the file to open it anyway, and that's all the association really does.
You can change the association to Pro Tools if you want by right clicking the file, selecting "Properties". Where it says "Open With" click on the Change button.

Removing the association altogether is a lot more difficult and invlolves directly manipulating the Registry.

No, sounds like the .midnam file is messed up in some way.

Hmmm... I think I might hit Roland Tech Support up.

Everything is correct and in their rightful place.

I'm out of ideas ...so close ...but so far away.

Default Re: MIDI Studio Setup; Thank you Robert Martin

Greetings

As some of you already know, I received an email from Robert Martin the software developer for Cherry Picker, this morning, very generously offering his services and expertise to try find a solution to this problem and I'm very glad to say that the solution has been found!

Robert Martin said that the XML script looks fine, he said the only discrepancy was that there was to many Patchs in the first Bank, one of the Patchs had been duplicated.

Pro Tools is now successfully talking with the XT.

So a big thanks to Robert Martin.

On my Mac, I have Ensoniq ZR.midnam. Not sure if that matches your ZR-76?

Also, do you have (or have access to) a Mac?

Cherry Picker could then be your best friend too.

i don't hv access to one right now since it is summer break and i am not at college (which has the mac based studio). I don't know about the ZR...i'll hv to do some research, but i would assume that the ZR is just a rack version

edit: i just looked it up and the only ensoniq product i could find with ZR attached to it is the ensoniq.........so can mac midnam files work on a pc??? and if not is there neway to convert them?
