Default OSX 10.4.7 & Digi 001/Coreaudio 6.9.2 works!!

Finally got OSX 10.4.7 Tiger working with my Digi 001 and Core Audio Driver 6.9.2cs2 (Standalone CoreAudio Driver 6.9.2cs2.dmg) this morning and it's been up for about 3 hrs without a glitch. Here's my current working hard/software configuration:

PPCG4 1.25GHz DP FW800 1.25GHz RAM
OSX 10.4.7 (NB: with all current updates as of 12 July 2006 except QT 7.1.2)
QT 7.0.4
iTunes 6.0.5 (20)
Digidesign Core Audio Driver (CAD) 6.9.2cs2
Digi 001

With Digi 001 selected as Default Output in Audio MIDI Setup and similarly selecting the Digi 001 and the Audio playback of the following apps tested OK:
iTunes 6.0.5 (20)
SoundTrack Pro 1.1
SoundTrack 1.2
WaveBurner 1.1.2
GarageBand 3.0.2
Logic 7.1.1 (reports DAE error -1133 on startup. Hit continue button and successfully loaded demo song: works OK. go figure)

My previous attempts with CAD v.6.9.2cs2 as of Sept 2005 and OSX 10.4 hadn't worked. I had installed the standalone Core Audio Driver 7.0 but Apple Audio MIDI Setup>Default Output>Digidesign 001 HW was NOT available on any pull down menu and the Digidesign CoreAudio Manager 7.0 icon bounced in dock then quit. I gradually discovered worse problems because it had automatically installed an MBox2 preference pane in my System Preferences and its MIDI driver that consequently caused my Audio MIDI Setup to crash when I selected MIDI Devices.

Fixed it and here's the steps with reboots along the way:
• I uninstalled (chose the recommended partial uninstall NOT the clean/complete option) the standalone 7.0 Core Audio Driverbut this still left the MBox2 components and caused problems. I manually removed items in ~/Library/Audio (System and User) but not sure I caught all.
• I installed the Standalone CoreAudio Driver 6.9.2cs2 but still flaky behaviour.
• started again and mounted the CAD 7.0 and did a COMPLETE/CLEAN uninstall; then installed CAD 6.9.2cs2, rebooted and hey presto!

so far so good, keeping my fingers crossed

Hi there -

I tried this three times so far but no luck. While my little bouncing D shows up when I launch iTunes, sound is still routed to the built-in interal audio system, even when Digidesign HW (001) shows up in Apple MIDI Setup. Further, with iTunes launched and playing (with DigiCore Audio Manager showing in the dock but audio coming out the built-in audio line-out port), when I launch Sound in System Preferences, the 001 hardware is not an available option. Now, if I close the Apple MIDI setup and launch Sound in System Preferences (where the 001 can't be found), when I reopen Apple MIDI setup, 001 is gone from audio devices (but still in MIDI) until I reinstall CoreAudio 6.9.2cs2.

Is there anything else you can share? A bit more details on the steps above perhaps? It would be great to have this as a viable work-around.

I did it too! well.... some years later than you, of course. The turning point was manually move to trash ALL Pro Tools-created files and folders (http://www.proaudiosupport.com/a4355...otools-le.html). thanks
