DIGI 002 MIXER FADER ISSUE / WONT BOOT FIRMWARE!

I have searched high and low for a clue on how to resolve this issue:

I have a digi 002 mixer. I don't leave my studio powered up every day. On a number of occassions, when I go to power up my digi 002, it hangs while loading the onboard software. The faders are stuck in a position where if I move any one of them, they attempt to return to wherever they were upon the attempted bootup. Sometimes the scribble strips are blank, sometimes they have jibberish, and sometimes they display "validating . . . " and the maybe "loading . . ." and then, most likely, it freezes.

It appears to me that this fader problem was potentially addressed in a firmware update, but my mixer appears to have the latest version. If I replace the DAE file with the firmware upgrade 1.5a, the mixer doesn't see it as a necessary upgrade. When this problem comes up, it may take anywhere from hours to days before the digi 002 works again. This morning, out of frustration, I cracked open the case and disconnected the fader wire.

BINGO! Boots right up.
Upon reconnecting the wire, I am able to boot still. weird.

So, what I am wondering, has anyone been through this problem with their own machine and found a solution, and does anyone know if there is a way to reinstall the firmware?

Scary question: Does anyone know what the 2 jumpers on the fader pc board do? Is it possible that one of them will 'reset' the firmware, much like a CMOS reset on a PC?

Hi.
I've the same damned problem on my Digi002 and actually i'm turned too much nervous!
I've "solved" the problem some time ago first requiring a Digi assistence a substitution cable;
then i've applied the new cable and the digi has worked until for a 10 months.
The problem is already presented, then i've required another assisstance.
I've changed this time the Ac/Dc transformer.
The digi has worked for another 6 or 7 months, and frozen again.
Then, i've applied anti oxidation fluids on pin contacs and the digi has worked
again for another 6 months.
This time the problem has already occurs.
Then i will try to applyind the fluid Deoxit on the pins contact, and i hope to solve
the problem at least for another 6 months.
Since i've bought my Digi002 i've yet lost two clients cause the Digi freeze.
This time i probably lost another client since i should finish until to 15 march a
mix, that cause Digi froze, i wil never complete.
The i ask myself: "it is possible that Digidesign have sold me a broken Digi002?"
"How much time this trouble may during? Can i finally repair stably my unit?"
I don't now, i only know that i've spent 2500 euro for a unit that periodically it
block my activity.
I ask all support from Digidesign since i don't see a solution to this problem.

PS: How you update the firmware? It happens when i've installed the 7.0 software or i should
download a particular file?

I've just cleaned the pins of Digi002 and now it seems to run again!
