Help! PT11 - Instrument-track PB/REC issues & DPC latency?
Hi,
New member here, and hoping for some help on these 2 issues - which I'm suspecting might be kind of related. Though I'm no expert on this hardware/tweaking stuff myself. When playing a instrument track (only) session, with as less as 4 tracks, I'm experiencing weird note-cut-off's. Sometimes whole session will stop playing, except from random notes being monitored through speakers. I can save my session I've done a DPC Latency-test, and the "USB-3 intel host controller" driver seems to go through the roof on my system. And longer the test - higher the digits on the "driver-tab" in "latencyMon" software. Has anyone experienced this? (The mainpage says my system is having difficulties with running realtime playback) How can I resolve this? I already disabled CPU throttling in the BIOS, I've turned off all power-management to turbo CPU in BIOS. I did the power-management settings in WIN7, and running PT as admin. But I just can't seem to figure this out. Does anyone have experience with this? Perhaps someone with similair system-specs?? FWIW... Re: Help! PT11 - Instrument-track PB/REC issues & DPC latency?
Bump, anyone?
Only me experiencing Haswell-E issues on PT11?? Seems, my intel USB-port driver creates intensive latency, makes my audio recordings cracking, popping and disturb. Anyone with similair system as mine solved this?

Re: Help! PT11 - Instrument-track PB/REC issues & DPC latency?
Look into your sample rate/clock speed. If your sample rate is 512, try decreasing it to something under 300. This may or may not help. I also notice that anytime I run anything over 48khz clocking, I get distortion in the playback. I run an AMD system with Win 7 Home Premium and you running an Intel system may have totally different properties.

Recap: let us know what interface you have, and which plugin VI's are having the note issues(or is it all VI's)

It seems I'm missing something on the setup, I'm suspecting it's in the BIOS. Since, like you're saying, this system should be pretty descent at handling my needs. Most often like 10 tracks VI's, and a couple of audio as well. Also, I'm not really seeing it go bezerk in the system-usage window at any time. The 12 CPU threads are around max 20-40 percent, when I push it the most. 1. I'm on a Focusrite Scarlett 18i8, USB (plugged into USB 2.0 port for compatility issues sometimes on USB3.0 systems, so just to be sure I did it like this). 2. Haven't really checked for floppy on the BIOS, since there's no floppy device in my system. But will double check that - just to be 100% sure that's not causing the issue. Thanks for the tip. 3. I'm not entirely sure what you mean by odd amount of RAM. I have 4x4Gb Kingston HyperX, at base clock DDR4 inserted. There shouldn't be any onboard GPU, nor video output on the Motherboard. Also there's non on the 5930k Intel, as far as I'm aware. So no? But please elaborate? :) 4. I'm using Superior Drummer 2, Spectrasonics Trilian, and some tracks with Kontakt. Will try a reboot to check for floppy options in the BIOS and post further informations regarding this. If you can remember anything else, or other possible settings I might have forgotten. Please feel free to fire away!

Re: Help! PT11 - Instrument-track PB/REC issues & DPC latency?
Yes, like I thought - was unable to locate ANY floppy settings. Only my HDD/SSD's and my DVD-RW in the BIOS. So that's not causing this issue.
I might have to locate/pay a person setting up this system for Audio Production, since I'm running out of ideas here.. - BTW, also disabled xHCI settings in the BIOS. Since I noticed alot of DPC latency from the intel USB 3.0 driver controller. So that should eliminate that potential issue aswell..

Re: Help! PT11 - Instrument-track PB/REC issues & DPC latency?
Re the RAM, I am confused on why its reporting 15.9GB out of the 16GB total. Is it possible that one stick of RAM is defective?
Re xHCI, I'm not sure what this is. If you meant AHCI, all your drives should be in AHCI mode and not in IDE mode(but I am on a slightly older rig here). Re the floppy drive question; I have read on several occasions that if BIOS "thinks" there is a floppy, it hurts performance(even if there is no floppy drive installed). It might(in BIOS) be referred to as Drive A: or B: as those letters are reserved for floppy drives only. I hope you can get it sorted out
