Default The Creation Station Specs

My Mac G5 2.0 dual with 6 gig of RAM has always had issues with "Stylus, Drum Masters, etc". I'm sick of the headaches. I want to build a computer that will have no problems running virtual instruments alongside 32 tracks of Pro Tools (with plugins). I took the specs from the most expensive "Creation Station" on Sweetwaters website. I assume they have chosen the best components that are compatible. 2 questions-If I want to build the ultimate PC for my goals, is this it? Also, I understand there are several versions of the i7 2.66 CPU and the ASUS X58 Motherboard. What other info would I need on the CPU and the Motherboard to make sure I am ordering the right parts and building this exact same computer?

Personally I would hold off until Jan. for the new i7's to come out. the 920 will be repplaces by the 930 and will be about the same price and be 2.8 i believe, also the 6 core i7's or i9s whatever they call them, will be here soon. Not to mention Windows 7 64 bit support should also be here soon.

Is it January, I thought they were now saying the first 1/4 to the first half of 2010? Or am I thinking of the i9?

man if you gotta have somethin' now then you cannot go wrong buildin' an i7 right now...regardless of what will happen 1st qtr of next year. from what you described as your needs the current i7 will more than serve your purpose with exceptional performance. now if you are concerned about the most current technology, price changes, etc then 1st qtr of next year might be your best bet. but from what you described it seems like the current i7 is a go. and i wouldn't even worry about matchin' SW build. the cats here, in the i7 thread have done the work. follow one of those builds and you 'll be good. or call SW and ask for their specs. my 2cents
