Chrome Tone??? Anyone try it....
I've tried to Demo the new McDSP "Chrome Tone" but can't seem to get a Demo response.
Anyone try it? or know how to install and get a 14 day trial? I've installed the plug, but when it gets to the try page, it asks for a response, but there's nowhere on the McDsp site that i have found to get a response code. OK plug junkies (i'm included) whats the verdict compared to Amplitube or Amp farm.......i need to pull the trigger.

not just better than Amplitube, also AmpFarm.
This is THE one for running a clean guitar into and having truly usable sound come out. |

Chrome Tone is fantastic. It excels at warming up guitar tones without shredding them. It also blends well with straight tracks and the efx are killer too.

I just started a demo. You just email them your iLok acct name and what products you want to try. I only took like half a day for mine to show up on iLok.com. Transfer to the iLok takes a few seconds.

Excellent plugin, the vex are "syncable" and the sound is pretty good for a plugin.
The clean sounds are very good but I'm still not convinced with the distorted sounds, for that matter, it sounds about the same as AmpFarm or Amplitube.

Re: Chrome Tone??? Anyone try it....
Like all Mcdsp plugins, it sounds pretty good.
My main criticism is that the plugin interface is too complex. Mcdsp appear to be following the Bomb Factory idea of making the graphics look so pretty people overlook flaws in the design. They have jammed too many things into the fx plugin. Why build one overweight plugin that has so many modules in it? Why not give us each of the fx modules as small easy to use plugins to play with so we can arrange them as we like and mix and match Chrometone fx with other plugin fx? The "All in one" approach limits you to using what Mcdsp gives you, unless you want to run multiple copies of Chrometone which is a pain in the butt. I don't like the idea of "All in one" plugins and I think it is a bad precedent. I realize it must be easier to program, but it makes it less user friendly for me. |
