Hard Crashing In Pro Tools 10
I run Windows 7, with 20gb of ram and a Sandy Bridge I5 processor.
Lately Pro Tools has been hard crashing. As in it will freeze up and require a hard reset. This occurs most often (perhaps only; not sure) while using Komplete 9, which I recently bought and installed. I'm trying to troubleshoot this, but Komplete doesn't log an error file for these crashes and Pro Tools does (of course, the Pro Tools logs are encrypted for some reason). I'm pretty astounded that Avid would ask $40 to read an encrypted error log. Surely I must be misunderstanding that support code thing. What can I do? Any ideas? I've done the usual cleaning up of the hard drives and trashing of preferences. |

Re: Hard Crashing In Pro Tools 10
Have you checked (with, for example, Task Manager while running PT) if you run out f memory? If your memory usage shows ~4GB used, PT will crash.
Avid's business model is to sell software that should work but if it does not then they are willing to help you if you are willing to pay. This forum is the only free support PT users get.

Re: Hard Crashing In Pro Tools 10
I too am having such a problem although I can't completely nail it down to Komplete9. Its been happening in 10.3.6 when loading and running a session originally put together in 10.3.5. But definitely a completely freeze with reboot required.
Another issue, while not a complete freeze, happened twice yesterday with Komplete9 in a PT10.3.6 session (albeit made inactive when not in use). I got a blue screen with a big message talking aobut a clock interrupt and that I should reconfigure BIOS setting I'll keep checking back here and hopefully some folks can provide some words of wisdom re: Komplete9

Re: Hard Crashing In Pro Tools 10
Heavy processor spikes can cause overheating which results in a freeze. It could be that NI Komplete and other software from them, cause a cpu spike since they have their little OS built in their plugins.
