Alternative AVB options
I've read the requirements and the need for two cascading dongles .... (so Apple don't make a dedicated TB3 > Ethernet adaptor?)
I wa strongly considering getting CalDigit TS3 Plus for general hub duties, multiple monitors, etc. CalDigit specs now claim that they support AVB with this device. I know Avid have said some other devices claiming to "support" AVB don't perform to their expectations, but this would simplify things nicely if it worked.

Re: Alternative AVB options
Sorry - some skewed Google results mislead me.
When searching explicitly for this info, I got a result that said: "... that's why our CalDigit TS3 Plus dock station will boost connectivity ... it also features Audio Video Bridging (AVB) which means that the ..." But more careful inspection shows that the first set of dots jumps the discussion into a different product! Doh - my bad!

Re: Alternative AVB options
are there any news regarding AVB compatible ethernet adapters?
I am looking to buy a new multi-port hub for a Macbook Pro in the studio and it would be very elegant to have an all-in-one solution! thanks |

I've been eyeballing this one: https://www.belkin.com/de/support-ar...icleNum=316596 trying to find out what chipset they use for ethernet... |

Re: Alternative AVB options
When new hubs pop up on MacRumors I always look around the vendors website and ask the question. Satechi are the first to reply (and it took about a month).
I don't hold out much hope. And anyway, Avid have tested a number of alternatives and only support inbuild Mac Ethernet or the double-dongle TB3->TB2 + TB2 -> Ethernet, so if you have a problem, the first thing that will be suggested is to try one of those. Dominic |

Re: Alternative AVB options
not sure if your post was directed at me, but yes indeed, the double-dongle TB3->TB2 + TB2 -> Ethernet is what I am working with at the moment.
Looks like it will stay that way, even when I get a flashy thunderbolt dock. |
