Default Beat Detective Conform Freezes Pro Tools

About 80% of the time when I try and conform regions using BD, PT freezes. It seems like it only happens when I have the "strength" button checked. This doesn't happen if I simply "quantize" the regions, only when I use BD. I've searched the DUC for similar posts but haven't found anything. Anyone have a clue what might be causing this? It's something that has only recently started happening. Maybe it has nothing to do with BD at all... I don't know...

Hello,

Does the system hard freeze and require a reboot? Are there any error messages posted? How much memory do you have allocated to Pro Tools? You may want to try increasing the preferred size. Also, what type of drives are your sessions on?

Hi Mike,

Thank you for the response.

The system doesn't freeze, just PT. I can force quit PT, but then I reboot anyway.

There are no error messages. The conform region progress bar in the BD panel stops and I get tapping fingers. Sometimes before any progress is shown.

I should have mentioned I'm using PT 5.3.1cs4

I have 200MB RAM minimun, 256MB preferred set.

I'm using SCSI Cheetah drives, running off a dual atto expressPCI card.

Thanks!

Mark

Hello,

You don't want to modify the minimum memory settings for the Pro Tools app. This can actually cause quit a few problems. I would suggest entering a zero for the minimum setting and hitting enter. It should then default back to its original setting. If not check the minimum of an unmodified version of 5.31 and use that setting. Also, try allocating 350MB to the preferred size if you have enough RAM to do so. Are your drives formatted with ATTO Express 2.7 or higher?
