Compatibility question about MOTU interfaces

Hi. I'm wondering if anyone knows whether there would be a conflict if I were to use a MOTU 2408 (or other such interface) for my Mac system sound in addition to my 882 for Pro Tools. This, in theory anyways, would allow me to use the 2408 for all the other audio programs on my computer, but I'm not sure if this is going to cause problems. Any ideas?
