Pro Tools 8 LE patch?

Well I would request the Avid people to release a patch for Pro tools 8 LE so that it runs like the new Pro tools 9 you'll have introduced. I have recently done certification for PT 101 and 110 with which I get a voucher for a plug in which I really find useless as I again have to purchase an ilok for it.

Wish instead of that plug in they could provide a Pro tools software so that after investing so much doing Pro tools certification I could get a Pro tools to practice. All this time I was practicing with my friends Mbox 2 mini which he had recently purchased.

I even have a student account with you'll but the prices are very high for Pro Tools 9 and there's no other option i can think of. Anways guys I hope you take this as a feedback.

you really should purchase an iLok, or an Avid system that includes an iLok. If you want to make PT your lifes work, you will be needing an iLok, and more than likely, multiple iLoks.

There will be no further development of Pro Tools 8, only CS releases to fix bugs.

Congrats on the 101 and 110 courses.

Do what you can to save up some money and before you know it, you will have enough to get your own interface and PT9. Good Luck.

Yeah I agree with you but a Patch for Pro tools LE 8 where one doesnt need and interface would be awesome. For the time being I will have something to work on.

While it would probably be "awesome", it is never going to happen.

The Pro Tools product that does not require an Avid interface is Pro Tools 9. They spent a lot of time and money developing it, and it would honestly be bad business for them to spend more time and money making an older product function like a newer product.

Agree with above, save up for an ilok and go for pro tools 9 with windows 7. If you go 8.x, then you will maybe spend more time/money trying to fix problems.

If you can't afford Pro Tools, maybe try Reaper for a while. I heard it is very good and cheap. It aint Pro Tools, but with your cert and Reaper at home, thats enough to continue your studies and experiments until you can get PT9 software.

Regarding the cost of an iLok, since they are $40 and will last5 years(easily), assuming you don't break it(use a short USB cable with laptops so it hangs), that breaks down to $8 a year

What will i do by purchasing ilok if I dont have pro tools and that too the Ilok will be for the free plugin that i am eligible with 110 course.

perhaps consider buying the Full Box version of Pro Tools 9. That will come with an iLok, which you will need for your PT9 license. Then you can buy any interface you want. You can find used Avid interfaces on eBay for cheap, or get a 3rd party interface.
