Default Taskbar after 8.0.1

After updating to 8.0.1 all the items that were in the taskbar immediately to the right of the start button are gone and there is nothing I can do to get them back.
Tried to unlock it and drag the little dots to the right to create room but they won't move. Then I tried to drag my items there but it does not respond to it.

Any suggestions?

Just discovered one more thing.
I have Firefox on and when ever I click on a blank area on the desktop behind Firefox it always minimizes the browser.

Win XP Pro - all the latest updates except IE8.
Latest Firefox.
Yes, I have restarted my comp.

Neither of those things were happening just a few minutes ago with PT 8.0! ! !
Now 8.0.1 and I get these things.

After I upgraded to 8.0.1, my task bar changed also. I was able to put it back to how it was though. I double its size and put the quick launch icons on the top half and the programs that are open go on the bottom half, and then set it to auto hide. Anyway, after the upgrade, it was set back to normal size and behavior.

ditto on the task bar thingy. i didn't even think that it might be related to 8.0.1 since i had other things goin' on too. but there was a box that became 'unticked/unchecked' in the task bar selection. cannot remember the exact verbage. but right click on task bar area and it should be pretty clear which one needs to be re-checked. sorry can't be of more specific help...not in front of system

I don't know what's happening.
None of the suggestions you say are working.
Also Every time I click a blank area on the desktop Firefox goes away.

I probably should have just stayed with 7.4.
I can upgrade every program in my computer, MS Office, Browsers, Emails, Photoshop, drivers etc etc without a single problem but every time I have upgraded Pro tools I have nothing but trouble.

Is there a way to roll back from 8.0.1 to 8.0?

Not if u hadn't backed it up 1st... U have to uninstall & re-install...

edit:how do I always miss these things or not have them happen... I hadn't saw that either; my taskbar is always on auto-hide mode but nothing different after the update...

OK I found the solution to the taskbar.
You have to right click on it and go into properties and there you have to put a check mark in Show Quick Launch.
For some reason this check mark is removed when installing the 8.0.1.

Also as to the Firefox.
I uninstalled it and reinstalled it and now it stays on the screen when I click behind it.

Thanks for your help and suggestions.

There still are some incompatibilities going on with Firefox.

In Firefox sometimes the scrolling up and down web pages doesn't work when PT 8.0.1 is on. I tried both with and without the scroll wheel on the mouse and tried a mouse that does not have a scroll wheel at all and it's very jerky.

Once I exit PT scrolling is back immediately and with no problems.
Regardless of mouse or whether or not you use the mouse scroll wheel.
