Default Loop Crash

Is anyone still getting the loop crash bug, where audio loops for 10 seconds or so before it falls apart and crashes? I still get it at least once or twice a day, even after rebuilding the main studio Mac Pro here.

Thanks,
Sig

It only happens to me when using some NI plugins in the session, especially Battery.

Can you give some more info?

Ahhh is that what is doing it? I am also using Battery, usually about 3-6 instances in a session. Balls. So, we wait for NI to get their [bleep][bleep][bleep][bleep]e together? Or is there something cooler than Battery to be using for the future? I like Battery...

Thanks for the reply.
Sig

It's not Battery - I see it on three systems - none with NI on them. All HD3, 2 MacPro and one G5.

Yes, there are LOTS of people experiencing it. See the thread titled 'Identical Crash Thread' and see just how many :)

We feel your pain, brother, and you are not alone!

So far no definitive answer from Digi, but they are for sure aware of it.

Many are having better luck turning OFF DSP caching in PT8, if you're on PT8.

Also really really double check every single plugin, a single incompatible one can cause things like this.

I've checked every plug, and yanked anything that isn't completely supported (vocalign, etc). The only thing that temporarily fixes it is trashing all the pref's. PITA!! I'll try turning off the DSP cache.

Anyone else notice that after PT Fails the permissions are hosed? It's gotten to the point where I repair permissions as I'm setting up - and ALWAYS find broken permissions - esp. Var/cups... If I have a fresh permissions fix I usually can work for 4-5 hours without fail.

I've also been trashig every Database folder (hard to remember when you are working off of 200+ drives a month, and most of them are from the 7x era...)
