Stolen iLok + replacement licenses Avid Support ??

Hey everyone,
I was wondering if anyone knew how I could get a hold of avid to inquire about replacement licenses

I recently had my iLok stolen and i reported it to iLok, so they terminated it, and sent me an email saying that if i want replacement licenses i have to contact avid, and that they already sent avid my information and yada yadyada..

now I'm trying to find a way to email them but they need an ASC which i was not given before.

So what, Avid wants me to pay $40 to receive customer support, and on top of that, i have to buy another iLok, and ontop of that i might have to pay for replacement licenses?!?!

is it just me that thinks it's not fair that we pay like $700 +for the software and licenses, and then if something unfortunate happens with the iLok we're expected to pay another 100 dollars for something we already own...
I mean I understand that the iLok prevents pirating but really it feels like Avid is just trying to get more money from me, that i don't even have.

SO if someone had a way for me to contact avid i would be extremely thankful, I am a very busy engineer and I need this issue resolved asap

Spend the $40 (or whatever the Canadian amount works out to) and call Avid. Would be the quickest way to go rather than wasting time here on the DUC.

fwiw - I think you can hardly blame Avid or ilok for your ilok being stolen. It's not like you can call Apple and tell them your iphone is stolen and they go like sure - here's a new one. Think about it - if it were that easy our phone lines would be ringing the entire day with people claiming a new set of licenses for free because their ilok got stolen.

Sorry for the hassle - I do understand the loss of time and frustration you have to go through btw.

You're welcome to try this, but I wouldn't get your hopes up. The bottom line is, losing your ilok or having it stolen is no different than having a $100 bill(or lots of them, depending on what was on the ilok) stolen or lost. You can go back to the bank, show them your withdrawal receipt, have them look at their security cameras to show the teller giving you the money, and prove that you HAD the money. That doesn't mean that they should give you that money again now that it's gone.

Your insurance company is really who you should be trying to call.

I get that, I just think that if there wasn't an iLok we wouldn't have to worry about it getting stolen, the iLok just adds to the things that can go wrong, and that they can make money off you, not knocking the company cuz their software is probably the best i've used, but idk, i just don't think that iLok is the best way to go, it's just adding more hasstle to the b=people that actually pay for the software

Hate to say it but if you keep an eye on your assets like your life depended on it you wouldn't have this problem. Unfortunately there's a lot of people that can't be trusted. I used to trust people but no more. When I leave my studio my iLok goes with me even if I'm not recording anywhere. Call me paranoid but it serves me well.

My iloks are in a lock box with a USB extension. It works. Oh yea, plus insurance.

The insurance is inexpensive compared to the headache going through something like this without it. Worth a call to your insurance agent.

mine all stay in a giant gun safe. figure if they can move over 1500lbs, get through the giant bolts on all 4 sides of the door, they deserve to have it!! i keep stacks of hard drives in here as well for the same purpose.
