AAF importing weirdness in 12.8
Since uploading to 12.8 I have a weird thing with importing AAF files. At the end of opening a new AAF I get a message that Pro Tools can't find xxx audio files. If I choose automatically find and relink the project opens all the files are there but find and relink keeps trying to find the files but doesn't. Even AAFs I opened with no problem in 12.7.1 do the same thing. If I say skip it the files also all show up. Then everytime I open the project it says files are missing. Wondering if anyone else is seeing this.

Re: AAF importing weirdness in 12.8
is it this?
General Localization AAF/OMF sequences with non-English characters import with garbled clip names or won't relink (PTSW-33569, PTSW-99570, PTSW-33826) If an AAF/OMF sequence containing files or clip names with non-English characters is exported from a Mac-based Pro Tools 7.3.1 system (or lower), it may not import correctly into Avid Media Composer, or Pro Tools 7.4 and higher systems on Windows or Mac. Conversely, AAF/OMF sequences with non-English characters exported from any Pro Tools 7.4 or higher system (or higher) may not import correctly into a Mac-based Pro Tools 7.3.1 (or lower) system. To relink the files, select “Manually Find and Relink,” then deselect all options except “Find by file ID.” Clip names may appear garbled or this? AAF files that contain AMA-linked audio cannot be imported (PTSW-182322) Pro Tools cannot import AAF files that contain AMA-linked audio files. AMA-linked audio must be imported or transcoded in Media Composer before the AAF is exported. or this? Unrendered mix and match AAFs will not properly import (PTSW-181825) If the error “A video file and its associated clips were removed because its timecode rate is incompatible with the project type” appears, it is likely that your AAF contains unrendered mix and match video. To avoid this, render mix and match AAFs from Media Composer before or during export full read me for 12.8 http://akmedia.digidesign.com/suppor...-Mac_97709.pdf

Re: AAF importing weirdness in 12.8
No, this is something new that happens with previously opened AAFs. All the files open correctly but it says that the files were not found and keeps asking me even if I told it to "skip all".

Re: AAF importing weirdness in 12.8
Hi -I just opened a referenced AAF -no issues (PThd12.8.0 macOS10.12.5) then closed the session, quit reopened and no issues.
Are you working on local drives? Could it be a read/write workspace/drive permission issue with PT wanting to add unique file info. All the best Bruno |

Re: AAF importing weirdness in 12.8
Hmm, no I'm working on local drives. I've tried both embedded and referenced files, these are all ones I've worked with in the past that didn't give me this message. Very strange, no other problems with 12.8 so far. Thanks for trying

Re: AAF importing weirdness in 12.8
Today I opened an AAF in 12.7.1 on my laptop and did not get a missing files error. This is an AAF that gave me a missing files message in 12.8. Both versions have the exact same amount of files and nothing is missing in the project that gives me missing audio messages.

Re: AAF importing weirdness in 12.8
Today I downgraded my main computer to 12.7.1 and imported an AAF that gives missing file errors on 12.8. No problem at all. Reinstalled 12.8 problem returns. AAFs opened with either version of Pro Tools come up with the same number of files, and I've mixed 5 acts of a one hour show and no files came up missing, so other than a missing files dialog which won't stop popping up everytime I open a project from an AAF things seem okay.

Re: AAF importing weirdness in 12.8
I checked on Ideascale and this has been a problem in the past. For now I will open AAFs on my laptop which still has 12.7.1 just so I don't get that annoying message. Can't get the program to "find" the supposed missing files so I'm stuck with the missing file dialog if I open with 12.8.

Re: AAF importing weirdness in 12.8
Ok. You're not alone. Since the last 12.8 version I have exactly the same problem!
No issues with 12.7! Plus protools now have issues with "save copy in" fonction, it skip all audio files with non english caracters names. What's the hell Avid? Do they beta test their software before official release? or is it a joke? |

Re: AAF importing weirdness in 12.8
I think I'll downgrade to 12.7, AAF import is just to much important.
