Deleting reference to phantom video file...
Had a last minute project come in yesterday. Client was under the gun to get some VO cut to a video, so I made a quicktime movie, imported it into PT, and went to work. The file never showed in the clip bin, nor did I get the option of copy on import, so I assumed it was linking to the parent file elsewhere (like an NLE would, by default).
Finished up the job, deleted the video track in PT and trashed the original quicktime file on the desktop. Now every time I open that same session, I get a message about relinking to the now 'missing' video file. Except the file doesn't exist. It was never in the clip bin (there's no option to show video in my clip list sub menu), and it's not in the video files folder via workspace. I tried trashing the wave cache, video files folder, bounced files folder, clip groups folder... A search turned up a couple of similar stories, and no one ever seemed to get a straight answer, they just copied session data and started over. So I'm just looking to confirm - is my only option here to copy data to a new session and hope the 'missing' video file doesn't carry over? Is this a bug? Some sort of limitation from the toolkit days? Does this have something to do with clip groups? Because that folder probably shouldn't exist otherwise, as I've never grouped anything in this session. Seems odd that I'd be allowed to import and run video but not have access to whatever database is insisting the file is still there. Thanks in advance, everyone.

Re: Deleting reference to phantom video file...
I would try naming a dummy file the same name then relink by name only? And then delete that?

Re: Deleting reference to phantom video file...
I ended up creating a new session and importing the important stuff, but now I almost want it to happen again so I can try this.
