Premiere CC Linked OMF Not Working
I cannot find any information about problems I've been having with linked OMF files from Adobe Premiere. I import the OMF file into ProTools and ProTools can't find any of the audio files. Not the magical experience I was hoping for. Just a bunch of blank regions and it always wants to search my system and I have to relink each audio file one by one. What am I doing wrong??? Using ProTools9HD on an older system...
Thanks for the help... Nathan |

Re: Premiere CC Linked OMF Not Working
Ask the editors for embedded OMF's. Works for me in 8. Watch for the pan bugs when the editor does a cross fade, the stereo channels pan back and forth during the cross fade.

Re: Premiere CC Linked OMF Not Working
I've had this problem as well. Although it only seems to effect the audio that is in nested sequences in Premiere. Perhaps that is this issue?

Important OMF Export Information from Premiere CC
Worked with an Premiere editor for a day trying many different methods of exporting OMF files for ProTools. We found a total of 2...yes only 2 that worked well. Here's a friendly document for Premiere editors...feel free to share it. This is for a 29.97 df timeline although I suppose it can be used successful for a 23.98 as well.
Adobe Premiere Export Guide for ProTools Users Note: If you're used to working with FCP 7 editors among other things, panning is handled very differently in Premiere. Tell Premiere editors to always include pan (the pan box should be checked) because it appends the panning to the audio file. if you don't Premiere will only include one channel of 2 channel music or anything else that's a stereo track in the program. Re: Important OMF Export Information from Premiere CC
How is Advanced Field Recorder Workflow with Embedded OMFs from Premier?
Do they work or is it a no go like from MC? AFRW is brilliant with reference OMFs of the production audio

Re: Premiere CC Linked OMF Not Working
Sorry Craig...don't think it works as of now. I don't even know if they're working on the OMF export fixes. The software algorithms in Premiere for OMF export are terrible and slow. Also Premiere doesn't support BWF's and transcodes everything to .aif which is very strange. You can pretty much say goodbye to advanced field recorder workflows, imho.
The editors I work with can't even use Premiere itself but have to use Adobe Audition to export OMF files that actually will work in ProTools. Crazy right? Once again a software company claims to do something it can't actually do. |
