SCSI64 + Yamaha 8416

Looks like quite a few people are having problems with the Yamaha CD writer.

Our machine too suffers from hangs since we've installed the Yamaha CDRW 8416 to the second SCSI port on the SCSI64 card.

We're using the SCSI cable that came with SCSI64, and then connect it to the CD writer via a SCII-SCIII Adapter. The writer is terminated.

Any suggestions? Does the Atto software need to be run for some setting changes? Thanks.

Checkout the Yamaha site, and flash-upgrade your CDRW 8416 to the latest firm-ware version. On some Macs after flashing the CDRW 8416 the Mac hangs. Make shure you've removed anny Toast-cd reader extension or other brand`s cdr extensions before flashing your CDRW 8416. Did the trick for me...

Oh yes, Once Steve Rosenthal told here in the forum that some 68 -> 50 adapters are badly terminated!! Check if termination is available on the open 18 pins of your adapter.
