Quartz 2D Extreme
Well its official ....Enabling quartz 2D extreme on my dual G5 lowered my CPU usage on one of my larger sessions by a noticeable amount. Im happy. It would be cool if others would try this so we can compare .
Just install the developer tools from your OSX Tiger start up disk.....once youve done this do a spotlight search for Quartz Debug....open up the program and go to the TOOLS menu at the top. Click on ENABLE QUARTZ 2D Extreme then heres the most important part FORCE QUIT the Quartz Debug app....This is the only way that QUARTZ 2D EXTREME will remain enabled without having the debug app running. Also make sure you restart any program you want to take advantage of Quartz. |
