Fan suggestion for Sheldon
Hi Sheldon,
I have been doing a lot of rehearsals and shows lately and noticed A LOT of heat eminating from the top vent holes of FOH rack. The temperature of the exhaust air made me uncofortable knowing how PC's like to be relatively cool. As I decided to investigate (yes my filters are clean). The power supply fans blow hot air out, they are located right below the intake fan for the CPU chassis. The PSU units produce a considerable amount of heat and I figured much of it was being pulled into the CPU intake, hmmm, preheated cooling air - not good. I cut a piece of cardboard and shaped it to evacuate the hot air in a direction away from the CPU intake. Results, after 9 straight hours of rehearsals and 2 shows, CPU and chassis temps were down and average of 10 degrees. I have now removed the cardboard and installed a fan blowing room air directly at the cpu intake. Temps are down an average of 12 degrees from when I started. Maybe the psu fans should blow in, not out. thoughts, ideas? Steve
