Default Run as administrator issue - either drag and drop or elastic audio broken

I have a really annoying issue with PT11HD. I get an Elastic Audio error on booting PT11:

c:\Program Files\Avid\Pro Tools\System Plug-Ins\Elastic Audio.aaxplugin could not be loaded. Please contact the software publisher for support using this software:

Error details:

Import DLL iZotope_Radius_XForm_x64.dll cannot be loaded

If I set ProTools.exe to run as administrator (right click > Properties > Compatibility tab > tick Run this program as administrator) the above error message goes away and Elastic audio works as expected. However, with run as administrator enabled, I can no longer drag and drop wav files to the timeline or the clip pane. Damned if I do, Damned if I don't.

Any ideas on how to resolve this would be very much appreciated.

I am running PT11HD on windows 8 x64, with an RME fireface 800 interface.

Sounds like a corrupt installation of the EA. I would uninstall and re-install, and when you uninstall, if you have the option, REMOVE the HD driver too(this is regardless of whether you run HD hardware or not)

Drag-and-drop won't work on Windows if you RAS. If you need EA, use Ctrl+Shift+I to import audio.

Cheers,

Thanks Bruce - I am a sound designer working in post, and dragging and dropping sounds from my audio database to PT is an essential part of my workflow, I do it _constantly_ and I can't really do without it. Elastic Audio is also pretty essential too.

These are both bugs you hit. The elastic audio issue though is more likely an install issue. I would do a clean install.

As I also said FWIW, 11HD(specifically 11.3) works great here, with no issues related to EA

I tried a re-install. I uninstalled all versions of pro tools (10.3.9 and 11.3) and then manually removed remaining folders and files from C:/Program Files and C:\Program Files\Common Files to get a clean install of PT11 HD.
Unfortunately this did not solve the problem, I still get the same error message. Strangely, the first time I booted, the error message did not appear and I was able to use EA, but since then, the error message is back.

Anyone have any further suggestions? Is there something else I need to do in order to get a completely clean re-install? I suppose this is going to be some kind of software conflict, and I am probably going to need to completely start from scratch, installing things one by one until I find the culprit... ugh.

I would re download the software for starters just to be safe it's not a bad file.
You state 8,are you actually using 8.1? Not sure that matters but might.
When uninstalling, selecting the option that deletes everything?
Running the installer as administrator?

Yes, I am using win 8 not 8.1 ( as stated in the Sisandra thing above )

Yes I did this, also I manually deleted all other files relating to avid that got left in c:\program files c:\program files\common files etc.

I didn't do this, but I think installers have to ask for admin privileges by default in any case, because they are modifying core windows directories (program files etc.) Certainly, when you run the installer, you get the typical "do you want to let this program modify your computer" type of dialogue, which is associated with giving admin rights.
