Default Mic Inputs

i am thinking about purchasing the pro control, but i find myself in an audio dilemma. i was wondering what other people, using the pro control, were using as mic pre's to get the audio to pro tools. is it best to get a large amount of only mic pre's (like the grace 801 or a rack full of 12 api 212 pre's, for example) or is it better to buy channel strips (like the amek channel in a box or api 7600, for example)? one other issue i'm having with my decision: i use a tascam mx-2424 for mobile recording and i would also like to use whatever i get for the pro control setup as a mobile input section for my tascam mx2424. any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated. thank you.

avalon / amek / drawmer / focusrite and last but not least digidesign pre's here.

the number would have to depend on the number you need I guess. If you do live bands that can be a lot. If you do tracking seperately I would definately suggest a high end pre in the avalon range for vocals / guitars / acoustic instruments. for drums you would be surprised how well digi's pre performs. Not often mentioned but imho a very good mic pre .... and operates both standalone end controllable by procontrol. so very suitable for mobile recording too.
