-7100 error along with PT HD 10.3.8

Hi,
Today I had a series of problems working with a 62 track session.
Although using several plug-ins, (TDM comp > eq > eq > de-esser for example) in the past I was able to open much bigger sessions along with HD 8.1.1 cs something.

I had repeated -7100 errors, time consuming voices and dsp reallocations . I altered memory/cpu usage, number of processors, etc.

I was able to work fine with this setting:
512 samples - 3 processors = CPU 90% - 80 Voices @ 5 DSP
Cache size reduced down to only 1GB

My main machine is old, a mac pro 2007 with 13GB RAM, but even maintaing the old and reliable OS 10.6.8, seems 10.3.8HD is pretty hungry.

What else can be done to avoid this -7100 errors? 66 tracks is not that huge session and I was not even using regular reverbers (Revibe).

I changed a few plugins from dsp to native.

Is this time for an additional HD accel card?

That or an upgrade to HDX. It sounds like you are running into the same type of TDM bugs I ran into with two systems where I work. Avid never fixed the bugs I reported. I don't expect them to fix those bugs at this point. My solution to the problem was to upgrade to HDX.

Buggy software released... Spend more money to get rid of it!

I imagine if 10.3.10 acts like this too.

I just started getting this error on my TDM rig running 10.3.8 (spec in signature).

It came out of the blue and I am now unable to open sessions I mixed in the last couple of days. They were fine when finishing and bouncing mixes but 50% of them now report this error and crash Pro Tools.

This is happening out of the blue.

Did you ever get to the bottom of your problem??

(I am also suddenly, and for the first time ever, getting bursts of white noise at random intervals which drop Pro Tools out of record).

For anyone with the same problem:

The error was caused by Sansamp TDM. It disappeared after removing the DPM version of the plug-in and instead using the AAX Native.

Eventually I re-installed Sansamp TDM and le Pro Tools re-scanne the installed plug-ins upon launch. The error has not re-appeared since.

Please note: Somehow the TDM version of the plug-in must have gotten corrupted. I am not quite sure as I actually put the same copy of the DPM file back into the plug-ins folder after the above procedure.
