Freezes but still plays audio

Hey, This is what I got

I have no problem with other sessions. The session that I'm working on, loads up fine, plays fine but when I push the stop button freezes and command 8 goes off line , but the audio keeps playing. It's a big session and I have tied deactived tracks and plug-ins.Any suggestions

As you suspect its, quite likely just too much CPU/RTAS processing in this session. What is different between this session and others? What plugins/VIs are used differently? Different session sample rate? etc.

What are _all_ the playback engine dialog settings? You should start with RTAS CPU =1 (I'm almost willing to bet money you have CPU=2??) and 99%. If not tracking try starting with buffer=1024. Try disabling some plugins/PI intensive tracks. Keep doing that until the problem goes away. Try disabling lots of plugins just to debug the problem.

Are the sessions on a dedicated audio-spec hard drive? Not on the system drive?

What plugins exactly are you using? Any VIs? Where the VI sample files installed? Focus on trying to print any sample based VI tracks and disable the raw tracks.

Are all your plugins up to date? Try all the standard deleting databases and trashing preference steps. Have all the standard optimizations been done? especially ones that will throw the system into huge pauses, like disabling spotlight indexing. You find all this stuff under the "Help us Help You - READ THIS Before Posting!" link on this page. If you've done these before run through them again and check they are all properly done.

If you can't solve it and the problems still seems to be only with this session try creating a new session and import the media from this session into the new session.
