My understanding is that HUI addresses the GUI while Pro Control and Control 24 addressed the machine coded DAE engine that ran on the TDM card's 56k chips. This is like asking for the latest Mac System X to run on your old Power PC Mac G3. I wouldn't hold my breath.

It was not tied to DSP Cards, both units work with LE.

That s true...

Control 24 worked with PTHD 10 native... and uses a proprietary network protocol over ethernet, like the C24 or Icon....
I think, its not a big deal to make the Control 24 work with PTHD12...
If Avid supports Hui, then why not support the Control 24....

There is a native version of the code but it is not addressing the GUI which would only require a driver.

Bob, lots of respect for you, but please stop making excuses for Avid on this.

They INTENTIONALLY broke these units with 11 and beyond to sell more control surfaces.

It is as simple as that, any other BS reason is simply that, BS!

Please Avid... you cannot overlook, that 502 Votes are there on ideascale...
So there is a big demand for the possibility to use the Control 24 on PT11 and
12... Please think about it... Its still strange for me, that i can use a
very old Mackie HUI on PT12, but not a newer Control24....

I know, that you don´t want to support old hardware, but you do with HUI...
So pls consider the control 24, which is unfortunately not a Hui controller...
No its a controller, you made like the c24,Icon, and so on... Similar Ethernet
Protocol...

Think about it....

thanks

regards

Intentionally broke and chose not to update it, are two different things.

Irregardless now that you've had six months with your icon....:dude the pro control just was lacking in a notable way and you know it.

And don't get me wrong, I loved mine, until I began using an Icon.

We sold our Icon 32ES a while ago and all I can say is the FADERS were way better on the Pro Control and the Matrix was AWESOME so no, I dont think the ICON controllers are that much better than the ProControl...

Noted and appreciate your input, but maybe I see better integration with the icon on using sends and pans and inserts as well as plugin control.....with the dedicated EQ and dynamics sections

I rarely disagree with you, your points about faders is fair, that being said, I personally feel that the D-Command smokes the procontrol all day and night in so many ways. I feel the same way about it compared to the C-24 and the S-3.

IMHO, the only thing out there today to beat it is the S-6.

I also think that the Slate Raven MTI2 is freaking awesome! I'd take it over an S-3 any day!

After all of this, even though I've moved away from the ProControl, I will continue to have a voice of reason, and argue that Avid had a choice to continue to allow these units to work or not, and chose not to. That being said, they still have that choice option on the table, they can simply do the right thing, make the necessary adjustments to the coding in ProTools, and poof, the pro control and the control 24 all the sudden start working again.
