Then why do a round and around again trip latency test?

If everything works properly, the first loop should show no latency because of PT's "Playback Engine" latency compensation - which apparently can't be turned off. If that's the case, the second loop shows the (RTL) latency directly. Otherwise it needs to be adjusted to reflect the error in PT's compensation. Thanks for asking !

I think mesaone did an irrational "OT" on this issue. You might want to see http://duc.avid.com/showpost.php?p=2266607&postcount=25 if you haven't already.

You're already set up for it, you just added an extra loopback.
Completely rational, completely on-topic. Let me illustrate:
  1. I looking at the PDFs you claim no one looks at, then explained to you how to do a proper loopback test, and explained why the extra loopback in your test was superfluous. That's rational.
  2. To refresh your memory, the topic at hand was your latency test. My comment was about the latency test. That's on topic.

Come on, man.

I'm worried about you, are you going to be OK?

Don't be worried. It was just a typo, happens to everyone.

Just leave it alone it's not worth the brain power, I thought mesa had a great response.......

He did a double round trip test but just wanted to measure a single trip......

It's best left alone

Cheers

Yes it can. Someone told you precisely how to turn it off per channel just a few posts back. Read more carefully, Amack.

I did these tests for years and I assure you only the single loop is necessary to obtain your results.

Consistent with Darryl Ramm’s assertions (http://duc.avid.com/showpost.php?p=2260348&postcount=26), I was unable to disable I/O latency compensation on any channel (all of which indicated 0 delay) either individually or via the "Delay Compensation" (ADC) control. Maybe your tests were with an older/different version of PT (I’m using standard PT12 with a PC). Can you post some of your test results?
