Default \"Save Session Copy In\" / Desktape v5.0

Is anyone using the 'Save Session Copy In' command to backup ProTools sessions to tape? After upgrading to OS9, ProTools no longer writes properly to tape using Desktape v5.0. It seems that this new version of Desktape, which is required for OS9, is fully asynchronous, and ProTools is not.

Are there any other tape mounting alternatives that work well with ProTools?
