Default mp3 option in PT8

This is the only problem i have run into so far. If i attempt to bounce to MP3 i get "The MP3 option cannot be enabled because: Module initialization failed for MP3.dll. The MP3 demo period may have expired."

My MP3 option is paid. What gives?

I am also having this problem. I remember with PT7.4 I had to uninstall then reinstall and check a box for the mp3 option while installing. I payed attention and made sure to look for this check box while installing PT 8 but did not see anything. I hope I don't have to uninstall PT 8 and re-reinstall???....I just got Structure working properly again.

Can anybody chime in with some recomendations??

Digi should really consider including this for free. Its bad enough that there isnt any non-real time bouncing, but to have to pay for MP3 file format when its free in almost any music player software (iTunes, Windows Media Player). Just load up your files, select convert file format, select the bitrate you want and your done.

I agree with you 100%! I have the authorization on my ilok for the mp3 option and everything worked fine in 7.4. Now 8...no mp3 export option. Dang it! I searched the DUC couldn't find anything allthough I thought I remember reading a post a few days ago about somone who had this problem...???

Digi, can you chime in and help a couple brothers out? Please....

Please use the MP3 installer from the Optional Installers folder, which will reinstall the MP3 codec.

I dl'ed pt8 so i don't have optional installers folder. I did install with pt 8, didn't work so i removed it, then installed it with mpt2, didn't work, and uninstalled it. I then dl'ed the separate installer from the digi site and still have the .dll issue.

Am i missing something?

*edit*
Better yet where do i need to put the missing .dll? If that is the only missing thing from the install i imagine we can just put it where it needs to go...

Found it!

For ProTools 8, we need to download the MP3 option installer from that link on the Digidesign site.

Indeed you are correct! My mistake - I had forgotten that it was removed from the general download installer.
