Updating from PT 12.5 to 12.7 Causes SB Wavelab to Crash
I've opened a ticket with Avid tech support on this one. So far, no luck with a resolution.
I recently upgraded my system from PT12.5 to 12.7 and then Wavelab Pro 9.0.35 crashes every time I try and exit the program with an error stating CFnd.dll is the cause. Since PT10 and Wavelab 7, I've always kept both applications open when working on projects as I like to bounce back and forth for editing files. It's always worked flawlessly. I decided to roll back to my previous Macrium Reflect image which was running with no errors and try and duplicate the upgrades to confirm the cause. On my Win7/64 system running an Apollo 16 FW (Silver face), with PT 12.5, Wavelab 9.0.15 and UAD 8.6, all is well. When I upgrade Wavelab to 9.0.35, no crashes. When I upgrade Avid App Manager, no crashes. When I upgrade iLok drivers, it asks to reboot, then still no crashes. When I upgrade PT to 12.7 it asks to reboot. When I log in, I don't even launch PT yet, I only launch Wavelab and it crashes with the same error from CFnd.dll. Steinberg confirms that CFnd.dll can cause the issues without Pro Tools even running. This is the case here. I've tried installing ASIO4ALL and disabled all other audio drivers on my system. Wavelab still crashes on exit. I've updated my UAD software to 9.0. Wavelab still crashes. It seems that I've reasonably isolated the issue to the PT12.7 upgrade. Any ideas on how to resolve this? |

Re: Updating from PT 12.5 to 12.7 Causes SB Wavelab to Crash
I am having the same problem but the affected program in my case is SCS (Show Cue System).
Looking around, I see that in addition to SCS and Wavelab, Vegas and Finale are also affected. The workaround I am using at the moment is described here at the Finale Knowledge Base. Hope this helps, David
