Definitely Mac. You don't have to tweak the hell out of it, in order to have a smooth PT-experience. If you got the $, go for a MacPro. No better decision to be made.

yea been there all day. my only question is that avid recommends a seperate hard drive for pt. but if i want to use a firewire interface i cant use a firewire drive. avid recommends not using usb for recording/playback. so what do you do to connect an external hard drive and record at the same time?

The real answer is it depends...your question is too broad to answer. Your experience with either platform, your budget, your current hardware and software, and so many other variables are at work here.

I use both, but I prefer working on the mac platform by far. But my reasons may not be the same as what you might experience. I need a PC also because I have some software that won't run on a mac. That may or may not be your situation.

Some people say Win7 changes the mac vs. pc debate in a big way. People like macs because the OS is so elegant and easy to use. But some say Win7 is closing the gap on that issue.

You're going to have to do a little research and demo some products. A few visits to some AVID dealers in your area will do you a world of good.

Best of luck!

You definitely do not need to "tweak the hell out of" a PC if you get the right components.

I've used both, have had good experiences on both.
