Lightbridge Discontinued!

WTF! Just head from Sweetwater that M-Audio discontinued this.

Figues, as soon as you can get 32 channels into Pro Tools 9 they kill it.

I have one, will continue to use it. But man, this thing never reached its potential.

Uggh. That's the very piece I was looking at today to help keep my 32 track remote situations going. I still have 3 Digimax LT's and 1 FS for 32 -- that I was using thru an ADAT Bridge and a 96I/O. Now I'm selling the HD1 rig and still need my 32 ins.

What exactly does DISCONTINUE mean? And do any of you know if the 'converters' in the LightBridge are the same as in the ProFire2626? I have a friend who'll put the converters in the ProFire 2626 up against the Apogee Ensemble any day of the week. But I need a 32 in solution. So I'd lean toward the LightBridge over the 2626 since I already have 32 of converters. I just need to get them INTO firewire. But I need to know if the analog out DA is the same on the Lightbridge at the 2626.

well, for me it has always work pretty solid. i have been using it under tiger with PT MP and have had 32 io since 7.3. however, the drivers have been hit or miss for many people. there have been no updates since 2009 in the driver department.

with a bit more development, this could have been a fantastic solution for PT9.

It works, but as i said, the drivers are a few years old. Since its now discontinued, there will be no specific integration with PT9. You are kinda taking a chance.

I have no idea about the DA converters. I have only used it for remote tracking and have always monitored through headphones. No direct comparison with other converters.

Thanks, Lynn. It's the 'perfect' solution for me. And I have a big Christmas remote I do every year over here in PA and when my HD1 sells I'll need a quick solution. I see the LightBridge's on eBay for under 400 so I guess I could always get rid of it again if PT9 future updates make it 'dead in the water'. I can't wait for something 'new' to come out.. uggh. I hate 'discontinuations'...
