Aren't we supposed to stay away from SLI mobos?

it was a tite fit for the ASUS P5K Deluxe mobo too. but it did work. did you try fittin' the bottom end of the fan first then clampin' the top afterwards?? it was the 'only' way i was able to secure mine

actually I realized they made these little ridges so that if it's a tight fit, it can be attached a little bit higher up, and sit right above without hitting the heatsinks. At least I think that was the intention.

Getting a few less D-Verbs now, fluctuating between 300 and 305.

There are no problems with SLI specifically that I am aware off. PT ran fine on many nVidia 5xx series boards. Almost everyone that built a DAW with a nVidea 6xx series chipset had problems and PT just wouldn't run. I have no idea if anyone was built a successful DAW for PT using the newer nVidia 7xx series chipsets.

Given the performance of the P35. P45, X38 and X48 there hasn't been any reason to really look outside the Intel camp from a chipset point of view. The good news is that nVidia is certifying select Intel X58 series chipsets for SLI. The X58 will run Crossfire also.

Hi,
Any news on the performance of a AMD Phenom Quad processor?
I currently have a AMD Dual 6000 on an Asus M2N SLI Delux and was wondering if it is compatible with Protools and would give me more processing power?
The processor is compatible with the MB.

Thanks

Yes. A user named Allbee1952 is using a M2N SLI Deluxe with a X2 processer. Can you run a Phenom on the M2N SLI Deluxes nVidia 570 chipset? I thought otherwise.

So I'm well aware of the P35 chipsets outstanding reputation with Pro Tools compatibility, but I've noticed it's being phased out. So, what would a suitable replacement be for the P35?

I have what look like a few reliable choices, but I have been combing the site for hours for some sort of hardware do's and don'ts for the current motherboards out there with no success. I think the P35 phase out is rather new - and I have a feeling I can stick with most 775 socket mobo's with Intel chipsets and be OK.

X38, P45, and X48 as far as the 775 socket mobo's. i think i have some listed on page 1 of this thread. also on page 130 or 131 there is a discussion between DUC'er bladesq and me regardin' his ASUS MAXIMUS build. so from that point forward in the thread you'll find more P45, X38 and maybe X48 discussions and build info. hope that helps. and if time allows maybe wait until the newer 32nm i7 drops next year then pick up one of the older 45nm i7's that's on shelves now. there's 1 build posted here within the last 20 pages or so. just a thought

EDIT: P45's too
