Default Tony Cariddi (Avid) says ProTools to remain open to third party interfaces

I'm not sure what the etiquette for posting links to other boards is but I thought this was useful information. Of course anything could happen but for now this seems to be Avid's position.

"Keeping Pro Tools software open has been key to the product strategy since PT9 and remains so today. There are no plans to close off future versions of Pro Tools to work only with Avid hardware."

Guys, those messages on other boards were actually first posted here on DUC in the mega thread on CPTK ..... on the 18th April!

Maybe you didn't read every post ... it did get hard ... over 1000 posts in ten days.

Check out these two specific posts from Tony, you'll see that what's been posted elsewhere is a direct lift from here ...

We heard it first!

This one ...

http://duc.avid.com/showpost.php?p=2...&postcount=979

... is where Tony confirms Avid are aware of the impact of the announcement, says that Avid is invesitgating amendments to its plans, and hopes to be able to announce something in the next couple of weeks.

And this one later ...

http://duc.avid.com/showpost.php?p=2...&postcount=985

... is where Tony confirm that ongoing plans into the future remain that PT will be open to the use of third party hardware.

So no breaches of etiquette are involved Dave ... ;-)
