Default Veeeeerrry Slow Beat Detective Processing

Hey Digifriends. I've been doing some Beat Detective work in PT8 and it's behaving oddly. I'm unable to analyze waveforms quickly (detection "thermometer" barely budges) and when I finally do the crossfades are taking forever to render. It's killing my workflow...

Worked fine before I upgraded to v.8

Anyone else having these issues? Any fixes? Workarounds? Anything? Heaven help me if I have the get the drummer to actually play on time...

Any thoughts on the matter would be greatly appreciated..

When you upgraded, did you trash your preferences? How about the databases on each drive?

I didn't trash prefs after I upgraded..but I'm doing that as we speak. Thanks for your help Spkguitar...

I'm rebooting the computer..I'll let you know in a couple of seconds if that helped the situation...

Hmmm..I might've spoken too soon. After I trashed the data/prefs, beat detective now slices up the audio nice and quickly, but the crossfade process is still painfully slow. Slow as if it's broken. Each track is taking about 5 minutes. I'm looking at just under an hour to do 10 drum tracks! Something has to be wrong here..never had this problem before I upgraded.....

8.0 does this. 8.03cs2 works pretty well. crossfades are the only thing that's slow now. They were excruciating before.

Jenk2k...are you saying that the crossfade issue is still a problem in the latest PT update, or has only slightly improved over v8.0?? If 8.03cs2 has a fix I'll get it going as soon as possible..

This is killing me....as it stands now I'm in the "excruciating" category. I know crossfades can be slow, but this is insane...it's taken me over an hour to work one one drum performance...

Can you do this work in Elastic Audio? I've never really had to use BD since EA appeared. Just a thought. IMO Elastic Audio is far superior.

A complete uninstall and reinstall of PT has solved the issue (for now)...crossfades are at least chugging along nicely...

What a pain...

Hey Murt! I may have to dive deeper into EA sooner than later! I've yet to fully wrap (warp?) my brain around EA, but I look forward to learning it a bit more in depth....

Some people swear by EA and others by BD. I'll reserve judgement until I've tried EA full on. As it stands right now I have a deadline to meet and I know my way around BD. When I get a minute to spare I'll experiment with EA for sure...
