control 24 faders jumping around

Hi,

Faders on my c24 are jumimg around! sometimes up to 8-10 in a row will suddenly fly down and then to the top and also some of the EQ DYN INSERTS lights go on and off. it has happened on several sessions. i have tried re boot of all, but it has happened again since.

I hear about the power supply failing on these a lot! is this the usuall sign? i'll be surprised as this has only had 3-4 months of proper use! most of its time was spend boxed at another studio not being used. unfortunately this is out of warranty!!

Hi,

Well, it also started to omit spikes in the monitors, so i have taken it apart to try the old clean the connectors routine and hope for the best!

Failing the cleaning of contacts then i guess its a replacement PSU! is it just a simple replacement of the whole power board on the back? i'm hoping Digi can send me the PSU and i connect it all myself!! any experience on this? can't afford to be closed for return to factory!!!

Hi,

Just to update, i took the power supply out and cleaned every connector with a cotton bud and switch cleaner lubricant! all 10, and put it all back together and it has worked ok for 2 hours with no problems! hopefully thats the fix, but won't know fully till tomorrow when i'll be working 10-12 hours.

I have seen this happening to almost all C24 units I installed for customers. It is indeed a PSU prob and a well known issue.
Time to ask for an RMA...

I second that ... get it ordered now and swap it out - it will fail sooner or later. Assuming you haven't ever changed it out - if you have the latest revision then perhaps the clean is all you can do .. they'll help you identify it on the phone ..Ainslie

Thanks for the words of wisdom guys, it did work fine last night for 2+ hours! but i guess a full day of use today will tell if cleaning the contacts was thr fix or not. It previosly worked fine yesterday till 4-5 hours into the session and the heat had built up a bit! and thats when it started, maybe heat related!?

I think you are all right and i better order a spare PSU now.
